Heavenly Father,
We’ve been waiting in the wilderness
through the longest night.
We’ve been calling you,
Hoping you would hold us up
And bless us with your holy light.

We’re still waiting for the sunrise,
But I’m tethered to the plow,
So my hands will run to the barrel of a gun
To try and help me now.

I’ll start fighting for my freedom,
I’m not standing alone.
Gonna take a chance, and make a stand and try
To make this land my home.

Heavenly Father,
The message of forgiveness I find too hard to hold.
I want redemption for the members of my family
Through the years who’ve been bought and sold.

Now my wife cries from the doorway,
‘Cause my daughter’s on the run.
If they find her track, they’ll bring her back,
So I’ll be marching with this gun.

I’ll start fighting for my freedom,
I’m not standing alone.
Gonna take a chance, and make a stand and try
To make this land my home.

I see them coming on the horizon,
I’ve got my brothers on the wing.
We’re gonna stand our ground till the trumpet sounds,
And hear freedom ring.

We’ll start fighting for our freedom,
I’m not standing alone,
Gonna take a chance, and make a stand and try
To make this land our home.
